For second- and third-grade students of the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), the orchestra’s Elementary Ensembles—string, woodwind, brass and percussion—present exciting programs introducing students to the instruments of the orchestra.

The orchestra’s Middle School Ensemble offers a range of programs, such as a woodwind quintet performance that includes a cleverly arranged “500 years of music history in two minutes,” and brief excerpts from Mozart concerti that give each member of the quintet a solo moment.

These highly successful programs are meant not only to inform students, but to inspire them with whole new horizons of musical awareness and creativity.
